Why should I Upgrade My Hearing Aids?

If your hearing aids are more than a few years old, it may be time for an upgrade. You might be thinking but I just bought my hearing aids a few years ago. Is an upgrade essential?..

We're here to help you understand why upgrading is so significant.

In this post, we are going to go over the following.

  • Lost, damaged, and repaired.

  • How old are your hearing aids?

  • Advanced hearing aid technology

  • New and improved technology

Lost, damaged, and repaired.

If you lose or damage your hearing aids beyond repair, you should consider upgrading them. I know that it may seem obvious, but if you pay your deductible, the insurance company will provide a new set of devices for the same brand and model. If you have already used your loss and damage claim, then you may not be able to submit an additional claim through the hearing aid manufacturer. This could be a good opportunity for you to upgrade your hearing aid technology.

The second reason you should consider upgrading your hearing aid technology is if the cost of repairs is becoming expensive and may take longer to get back. Just like an older car that may need constant repairs, hearing aids can get to a point where the cost of upkeep on an older piece of technology might be better spent investing in something newer that doesn't need as much repair work.

How old are your hearing aids?

If you have had your hearing aids for more than four years, it is time to consider newer technology. Is it possible to continue using hearing aids past the age of four years old? Of course, the answer to that is yes. There are a lot of individuals who use older hearing aids, if they’ve consistently maintained their hearing aids through regular checkups and cleanings by a hearing care professional.

Generally, hearing aid technology has advanced far enough in four years that you will notice a significant difference between older and newer hearing aids.

Advanced hearing aid technology.

Another reason why you may want to consider upgrading your hearing aid technology is when a significant new feature is introduced.

Throughout history, there have been a number of major feature upgrades to hearing aids. For instance, the first 100% digital hearing aid was introduced to the market in the 90s. The first receiver-in-canal hearing aid was released in the 2000s. And in 2013, we saw the release of the first Bluetooth-compatible hearing aids that could stream audio directly from a smart device into your hearing aids, without an intermediary device

Each of these major feature improvements would have justified upgrading your hearing aid technology, even if your hearing aids were significantly less than four years old.

New and improved technology

Some older hearing aids have a microphone housed behind the ears, so they pick up outside sound and then transmit it inside the ear. The problem with that is our ears are designed in a certain way to collect sound waves and channel them into the ear canal and then the sound is amplified. Just imagine someone having a conversation with you but they are talking to the back of your ears. You won't be able to understand what is being said, will you? No way!

Nearly all behind-the-ear hearing aids have mics on the device's body only, which sits behind your ear. This is where the ReSound ONE is special, it has an extra microphone sitting inside your ear. This gives you an organic quality and helps you pick out important sounds. Resound One Hearing aids helps you focus in on speech in front of you. and as they say, "Hear the world with your own ears ". The ReSound One M&RIE design uses your unique ear shape to deliver our most natural sound.

So to review:  Why should I upgrade my hearing aids? Well, the answer is simple: to experience new and improved technology. The ReSound One hearing aids deliver a world of sound that you've never heard before. The clarity and crispness of the sound will blow your mind!

You never knew how much you were missing out on in life until now. You'll be able to hear everything from birds chirping, to your favorite song playing.
